Seasons Coloring Pages — Free Printables

10 printable sheets · Ages 3–9 · Easy detail

Seasons are the first pattern children notice in the natural world: leaves fall, then it gets cold, then things grow again. Colouring the same landscape in different seasons makes the cycle visible.

This starter set has an autumn page with falling leaves, acorns and a squirrel gathering food, and a winter page with a snowman, snowflakes and a sledge.

They work well as a pair on a wall, and children often want to add the missing two seasons themselves — a good extension activity.

Learn About the Seasons

Why the seasons change

The Earth is tilted. As it travels round the Sun, first one half and then the other leans towards the light. The half that leans in gets longer days and more direct sunlight, and that is summer. Distance from the Sun has almost nothing to do with it.

Why leaves fall

In autumn, deciduous trees stop making the green chemical chlorophyll, which reveals the yellows and oranges that were there all along. Dropping the leaves saves water and prevents damage from snow and frost through the winter.

How animals get through winter

Some hibernate, slowing their bodies right down. Some migrate to warmer places. Some, like squirrels, simply plan: burying food in autumn and finding it again with a very good memory and a good nose.

Frequently asked questions

Are these coloring pages free?
Yes, every sheet in this collection is free to print and download, with no account needed.
Are there spring and summer pages too?
Not yet in this collection — these two are the starter set. Children often enjoy drawing the missing seasons on the back of the sheets.
Can I print these for a whole class?
Yes. Teachers, childminders and homeschooling parents may print as many copies as they need for their own children. Selling the files or reposting them elsewhere online is not permitted.
What paper should I print on?
Plain 80–120 gsm US Letter or A4 paper works for crayons and coloured pencils. Choose 'Fit to page' in your print dialog. If your child uses felt tips or paint, step up to 160 gsm card so the colour does not bleed through.
